How glasstarn works
Three parts work together on your computer. You ask questions in plain words, and you never have to set up a platform.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Once glasstarn is installed, you just chat with your agent. Put your export in a folder, open your AI app on that folder, and ask your question in your own words, and the agent takes care of the rest: it asks for the data it needs, runs glasstarn, and explains what it found. You do not need to learn any commands or screens.
Behind the scenes, three parts work together:
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Your agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Antigravity and others) | Talks with you, asks for the export it needs, explains what it finds, and suggests what to do next. |
| The glasstarn engine | Reads your export on your computer and calculates every number: how many items, how long each step takes, where work goes back, which groups are slower. |
| The glasstarn view | Shows the same project in one browser tab: the process map, findings, timings and the items behind every number. It follows your conversation by itself. |
Your agent never calculates a figure itself. It asks the engine and quotes the answer, so the numbers are the same every time you ask.
One page that follows the conversation
Section titled “One page that follows the conversation”The first time your agent has results, it opens them in your browser. After that you keep talking, and that same page keeps up: a new answer appears at the top, and when you ask to see something (“show me the main path”, “only claims over $10,000”, “take me to Conformance”), the page moves there and puts on the filter by itself, shown as a chip you can remove. You never need a second tab, and nothing needs computer use or browser control, so it works the same in every agent app.
Any workflow
Section titled “Any workflow”glasstarn works on any workflow that leaves a record of what happened and when: purchasing, sales, customer service, IT tickets, insurance claims, hiring, permits, loan applications, patient visits. The examples in these docs often use invoices and orders because they are familiar, but nothing in glasstarn is tied to them.
Why it is simpler than a classic process mining project
Section titled “Why it is simpler than a classic process mining project”A classic process mining project usually means buying software, having a data team connect it to your systems, and paying consultants for weeks or months before anyone sees a map. With glasstarn:
- There is nothing to buy. It is free and open source.
- You start from a plain export, such as a CSV or Excel file, that you can make yourself. If you need data from a system such as SAP or Salesforce, your agent tells you exactly what to export, and writes a short request you can send to the system’s admin.
- Install takes a few minutes, and you can ask your first question the same day.
- Your AI app asks the questions a process consultant would ask, and explains the answers.
Three ways to use it
Section titled “Three ways to use it”All three start the same way: understanding how the work really runs today.
Understand. See the real process: the main path, the side paths, where items wait and where they go back.
Improve. Ask your agent what to remove, simplify or fix, and which steps could go to a rule, an agent or stay with a person. The advice comes in the chat, each step tied to a measured number. You can improve a process without ever deploying an agent.
Check. Compare the recorded process with how it should run, such as an approved procedure, and list the items that do not follow it.
You do not have to pick one first. Ask your question and go from there.
What a project is
Section titled “What a project is”A project is one set of data, such as your invoice export for this year. You can ask it as many questions as you like. It is a folder on your computer that keeps your export, the choices you confirmed, the findings, and everything your agent saved. When you refresh the data with a newer export, it stays the same project. glasstarn keeps it in a glasstarn folder inside the folder you opened your agent in, next to your export. You can close everything and come back later. A new chat in the same folder continues the same project; say “start fresh” for a new one.
What glasstarn does not do
Section titled “What glasstarn does not do”- It does not watch your systems live. It works on the exports in your folder.
- It does not change anything in your systems.
- It does not guess missing history. If something was never recorded, it says so.
